You get to have a no expense spared custom ride of your choice. But! The build has to be done by a shop on a current tv show. What vehicle would you choose, who would you go with, and why?

Kinja'd!!!

In case some of you missed it, Aaron Kaufman has his own show now, so he can be included in the list.

There are no rules other than it has to be from a real shop that currently has a show involving them as the primary shop. Let’s see what ya got!

1992 Park Avenue done by Kindig.

Two requirements. No pinstripes. and not one damn thing can be red.

Dump-truck 427 into a mid-70's Nova sedan. And I want it to be done by Roadkill in a parking lot.

I’ll take a Panoz with a twin turbo setup from Street Outlaws. Regardless of the validity of the “street racing” on that show, they can build fast drag cars. Chief ran his car at Indy and that’s no joke to run at that level in the NHRA.

Ideally I would want some sort of road racing car but a suspension build like that is complicated. I don’t know of any road racing shops with a tv show.

My Camaro finished in the garage it’s in by Garage Squad. Hell, who am I kidding? A custom 69 Mustang Mach I done by either Kindig or Foose, preferrably Foose but I’m not sure if he’s still on a show. I just have to restrain them from going too low and/or too big with the wheels. For motivation I want a supercharged Boss 429 or SOHC 427.

I want a Renault Caravelle coupe with a twin turbo PRV engine...probably an A310 drivetrain swap into a Caravelle and putting twin turbos on the engine. Aaron can do the work because I have no clue who has a show, but I remember Aaron being a good mechanic.

I don’t know the shows well enough, but I suspect someone could do some pretty cool stuff with my ‘61 Ford. I wouldn’t want to drastically alter its character, but a total restoration of the drivetrain would be nice. And yeah, a few years as a forestry truck didn’t do the body any favors.

Just don’t make it so nice I can’t use it as a truck!

Generally they just restore cars to stock or stock+, and most of the mods they do are to correct shortcomings in the factory design. That Pacer is the exception that proves the rule.

It would be my S10 and I would have Aaron Kaufman build it. Just make it clean, simple, LS powered, and on air. I have no desire to own a priceless showpiece. I just want something fun, fast and reliable.

Honestly I am stoked that Aaron finally separated himself from Gas Monkey. Richard was definitely holding him back. He may make for a great business man but he never really gave a crap about the cars. Aaron on the other hand has a genuine passion for cars and you can see it in his attention to detail and out of the box ideas. But the main reason I would choose Aaron is because the things he does feel a lot like the things I would probably do if I were in his shoes.

Hmm do I want a car that works or just something really friggin cool and fun?

If I wanted something that actually works, I would definitely have Mighty Car Mods make me a track car out of something silly like a Daihatsu! I would probably want it to be a total sleeper though and look as stock as possible and be as mad as possible.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

If I wanted something really friggin cool and fun, I would want Roadkill to make me their stripped down Corvette cart but start with a Hellcat instead.

Extra effort will be implemented just to make sure it looks stock.

I actually talked with the owner of this van. It was built on a 76 Jeep chassis. He said he had about $25k tied into the build. I can’t justify spending near that much on something I’m going to beat the hell out of on trails.

$25k seems like a lot, especially using such an old chassis. If it was built on a modern JKU chassis, I could see that. I’d figure $10k at the most.

That’s the problem with the old chassis, he did it right and rebuilt everything before he put it together, which is where a lot of expense went.

The SWB Dakota 4X4 is the identical wheelbase, I figure I could swap a van body on to one of those for under $5k if I found one that had good running gear.
